Managing Maintenance Schedules
Create maintenance schedules, set the organisation defaults and assign schedules to a cluster
Maintenance schedules decide when AME upgrades a cluster and when it reboots nodes. See maintenance schedules for how windows, defaults and reboot schedules work.
Managing schedules requires the Admin role in your organisation.
Create or edit a schedule
Open the schedules
In the Avisi Cloud Console, go to Maintenance in the left navigation and open the Schedules tab.
Add or open a schedule
Click Add schedule to create a new schedule, or click the name of an existing schedule to edit it.
Configure the window
- Name: a descriptive name, so you can recognise the schedule when you assign it to a cluster.
- Same window on every day: leave this on to use one window for all selected days, or turn it off to set a window per day. A schedule for system reboots needs this on.
- Days: the days on which a window starts.
- Start time: the start of the window in the selected time zone.
- End time: the end of the window. An end time before the start time ends the window on the next day.
- Duration: pick a duration to set the end time from the start time.
- Time zone: the time zone of the start and end times. AME applies daylight saving time automatically.
Save
Click Save. Changes to a schedule apply to every cluster that uses it.
Reboot schedules must stay on one day
A schedule that clusters use for system reboots needs the same window on every day, and that window must end on the day it starts. The editor shows which clusters use the schedule for reboots, so you can check the impact before you save.
Set the default schedules
On the Schedules tab, select the schedule in the Default for upgrades column and the schedule in the Default for reboots column. New clusters get these schedules. Existing clusters keep the schedules they have.
Assign schedules to a cluster
Open the Patching page
Open your cluster, go to the Cluster tab and open Patching.
Choose the upgrade schedule
In the Automatic Cluster Upgrades card, enable Automatic Cluster Upgrade, select a schedule under Auto upgrade schedule and click Save.
Choose the reboot schedule
In the System Reboots card, select a schedule under Reboot schedule and click Save. The list only offers schedules that can be used for system reboots. Use Manage to choose which node pools reboot automatically.
Both cards show the days, start time and end time of the selected schedule. When the reboot window overlaps the upgrade window, the System Reboots card shows a warning, because upgrades and reboots can then drain nodes at the same time.
Delete unused schedules
On the Schedules tab, click Delete unused schedules to remove every schedule that no cluster uses.
